Gaz-System Poland is moving ahead with plans for a second floating LNG import terminal at Gdansk, underlining Europe’s continued commitment to LNG infrastructure despite growing expectations that gas demand growth could slow in the longer term. The proposed unit would sit alongside the country’s first Gdansk FSRU project and further strengthen Poland’s position as one of the key LNG gateways into Central and Eastern Europe. The move reflects continuing concerns about energy security following the sharp reduction in Russian pipeline gas supplies to Europe over recent years. Policymakers across the region have increasingly turned to LNG imports to diversify supply sources and reduce dependence on a single supplier.
