Norfolk Southern recognized for emergency response training
Norfolk Southern Railway has received the 2025 National Achievement Award from Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response (TRANSCAER) for excellence in emergency response training. The award recognizes the railroad's efforts to help communities prepare for and respond to rail-related emergencies.
TRANSCAER is an outreach program dedicated to assisting communities across North America and training emergency responders to prepare for and respond to hazardous material transportation incidents. The recognition highlights the railroad’s long-standing focus on emergency preparedness, rail safety and hands-on, practical training, NS officials said in a "Story Yard" post on the railroad's website. NS' 2025 training program included 83 in-person events, drills and exercises, plus webinars and online learning, reaching nearly 6,000 participants, NS officials said.
