Kongsberg South Korea has awarded five offshore wind projects totalling 1,786MW in the first half of its 2026 fixed-price contract auction. The latest round drew bids for 3,656MW across nine projects, according to the country’s Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment. Of the capacity awarded, 1,254MW went to fixed-bottom offshore wind, well ahead of the 689MW selected across all of 2025. The fixed-bottom awards included one 160MW project in the public-led segment and three projects in the general segment with a combined capacity of 1,094MW. The selected fixed-bottom projects are DL E&C and Korea Midland Power’s 160MW Geumodo scheme, Copenhagen Offshore Partners’ 504MW Haesong 3, B.Grimm’s 340MW Hanbit, and Hanwha Group and SK Group’s 250MW Guupdo. In floating wind, one 532MW project was picked from three bids. The floating award went to Haewoori 2, a 532MW project led by Copenhagen Offshore Partners and SK Group. The ministry said the outcome shows the market can still attract competitive bids despite tighter pricing. “The fact that more than 1.2GW of fixed-bottom offshore wind was awarded even with a lower ceiling price shows the sector is continuing to mature,” the ministry said. It added that the selected projects have committed to using domestic suppliers for key parts of the supply chain, including foundations, power cables, installation and operations.
